Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, better known by his stage name Shatta Wale, was unable to perform at his sold-out show at the La Royal Royal Beach in Accra, Ghana, due to an unanticipated circumstance that occurred last night.

The Uniland Festival announced Shatta Wale and Black Sherif as the headliners of this year’s “Campus Road Show,” a campus tour that took place at a few chosen tertiary institutions. Shatta Wale and Blacko stormed the University of Cape Coast and  University of Ghana with thrilling and energetic performances on the 22nd July, 2023 respectively. On December 29 and 30, 2023, a two-day festival at La Palm Royal Beach was supposed to be the tour’s culmination.

Performers billed include: Shatta Wale (headline act), Kwaw Kese, Medikal, Kelvyn Boy, Keche, Kofi Mole, Tulenkey, Pappy Kojo, XlimKid, Kofi Jamar, DJay, Afrobeast, Incredible Zigi, DWP and many more.

Information gathered by and indicates that the King of Africa dancehall was unable to perform that evening due to unresolved technical issues and organizers’ failure to carry out their contractual obligations.

A blogger for the Shattta Movement wrote the following in a post that was seen on X (formerly Twitter): “Quick Update: Shatta Wale cancels LA PALM ROYAL BEACH show tonight due to poor organization by show promoters and inability to meet contractual obligations.

Information gathered indicates, Shatta Wale will not make an appearance. More soon…”

Confirming the incident last night as reported, the SM camp management backed the post. The post was made by the manager of Shatta Wale, Mr. Samuel Atuobi Baah also known as Sammy Flex.

Team SM apologizes for any inconveniences this has caused and asks its supporters to keep coming to Wale’s upcoming events.

Shatta Wale will be performing in the meantime at the MIMLIFE Concert on January 1, 2024, in Tema, and the Countdown Africa on December 31, 2023, at Independence Square, as announced.
